The Class 12 Accountancy paper rewards preparation that is deep in a few areas rather than shallow everywhere. Partnership accounts alone can decide your result.
Where the marks concentrate
- Partnership — fundamentals, admission, retirement, death, dissolution
- Company accounts — share capital and debentures
- Financial statement analysis, ratios and cash flow
How to prepare each block
For partnership, master the adjustment logic once and the four situations become variations rather than separate chapters. For company accounts, build a fixed step sequence for issue, forfeiture and re-issue. For analysis, practise interpretation lines, not only computation — many students lose the explanation marks.
In the exam hall
- Use reading time to pick your starting question — begin with your strongest long question.
- Write working notes for every adjustment.
- Keep formats clean; presentation carries real marks.
- Leave the last fifteen minutes for checking totals.
Most expensive mistakes
Applying an adjustment only once, mixing up the revaluation and capital accounts, and running out of time because the hardest question was attempted first. All three are avoidable with timed practice.
